Course Overview

The Certificate in Orthopaedic & Trauma Medicine – Level 5 is a specialized, competency-based program that equips learners with foundational skills in the management of musculoskeletal injuries, trauma care, emergency response, and orthopaedic support services.

The program prepares trainees to work in accident and emergency units, orthopaedic wards, outpatient clinics, plaster rooms, and trauma care facilities. Learners gain hands-on experience in first aid, soft tissue injury management, basic hospital procedures, anatomy and physiology, and the initial management of fractures and dislocations.

Through structured clinical exposure, students work alongside orthopaedic clinicians, trauma teams, and emergency care professionals, building confidence and competence in real healthcare environments.

This Level 5 KHPOA licensed qualification provides a strong foundation for employment and serves as a direct progression pathway to the Diploma in Orthopaedic & Trauma Medicine – Level 6.

Entry Requirements

KCSE Mean Grade C (Minus) and:

  • C (Minus) in English / Kiswahili
  • C (Minus) in Biology
  • D+ (Plus) in any one of Mathematics / Physics / Chemistry

OR

Certificate Level 4 in Emergency Medical Technology or related course.
